Don’t miss a trip with Brenda or John with Alaska Charters and Adventures! We went on the Anan Bear trip with Brenda today and loved every minute of it! Couldn’t ask for a better guide or a better trip! Brenda has lived here most of her life so she knows the area and will provide you with a very informative tour. She plans the trip according to your needs and wishes and provides a fantastic day for you filled with memories you will have for a lifetime. You may pay a little more for her trip but it is well worth it and we wouldn’t go with anyone else. We spoke to others who were repeat customers of hers and they said the same. Don’t miss this trip! And be certain to visit her art gallery, as she is also a marine artist.
Had a great time out on the water going after the Kings. John was a great host and made you feel welcome on his boat.
We left Petersburg for the highlight of our trip, LeConte Glacier. It is truly a magical place, beautiful and pristine. As we traveled through LeConte Glacier, we saw blocks of ice that were sculpted into amazing shapes, sometimes looking like something familiar, like a seal. Sometimes the ice would be a shade of blue, and sometimes it would be a very deep blue, so beautiful that everyone had to take pictures. We saw many sheets of ice floating in the water and they were frequently full of seals, many with their young. It was incredible to see so many seals in this natural setting. We were told that orcas avoided going into glacial areas, so these areas become a safer area for seals to raise their young. Brenda navigated the boat up towards the main wall of the glacier but keeping far enough away to be safe from the waves that would result from a large block of ice breaking off into the water. We did see some large pieces break off and got to hear the thunder-like sound that was made.
All in all, LeConte was a trip that I will never forget. Brenda really was personable and professional. The pace of the trip was good and I felt like I got to spend enough time at the site. Brenda supplied ample information about all aspects of what we saw. I would recommend using Alaska Charters for tours out of Wrangell. Even though the trip is costly, I felt like I got my money’s worth and the memories and pictures are priceless.
We booked with Alaska Charters and Adventures because they offered a smaller, more personalized service. We took one of their jet boats from Wrangell to Anan Creek to watch bears for the day.
The boat was incredibly fast and the owner, Brenda, was pleasant and very knowledgeable. The morning was foggy but she knew right where she was going as her GPS had us on the quick path out of Wrangell.
Seating on a boat was good and though there could have been a bit more back support, the boat is used for a variety of tours, including trips up the Stikine River and over to Le Conte Glacier.
Give Alaska Charters and Adventures a call. They’ll set up a memorable trip you won’t soon forget.
We had such a nice time! The time at the glacier was really beautiful and relaxing. We saw sea lions near Petersburg and orcas in the Wrangell Channel. Brenda adapts to the wildlife that presents and takes time to allow everyone to take all the pictures they want. The boat size is great. Brenda is very knowledgeable and flexible. I highly recommend going with Alaska Charters to Anan or LeConte or any charter out of Wrangell you might be interested in.
We booked a day of fishing with John Yeager. He was full but subcontracted with a young man who did an excellent job. We first went for halibut but after a reasonable amount of time nothing was happening so he took us to a spot that within a short time period we were pulling the salmon in. We got our limit & had a great day of fishing! This young man worked hard & seemed to know the business.
My wife and I visited Wrangell in early August 2015. We put our 3 day adventure in the hands of John Yeager and Alaska Charters and Adventures. It was the best 3 days of our 62 day vacation. John arranged for our permits and Brenda was our wonderful guide to the Anan Observation area. The bears were close, active and a thrill to observe. Our friends are amazed by our pictures. The boat tour on the Stikine River was pleasant and exciting. The boat was a fast jet boat. we traveled the fast moving river avoiding shallow depths and obstacles like riding a roller coaster. There were several stops including a glacier and its icebergs. On the last day, I went fishing with John on the “Timber Wolf”. We had a good day of fishing and John insured that my fish [including my 85 lb Halibut] were processed and shipped home to NY. We felt that John and his staff were our personal tour guides.
